This was the view from the hotel room!
After an exhausting night in a 5 hour flight without leg room (Tiger Airways ...) and a few early hours in a Singapore stopover I arrived in hot and humid Kuala Lumpur and met up with my man!

The hotel was a lot more luxurious than I'd expected, and I felt a little out of place with my backpack and dirty sandals ... but it was really nice, and soooo cheap! Booking through hotels.com is a lot cheaper than booking directly from the hotel. This is what the room looked like, including breakfast and free Internet it was only around 45 US dollars per room per night, per person about the same amount as a hostel dorm bed in Australia and New Zealand! The food here is quite cheap, but as it is a Muslim country, the beer is more expensive than you'd think. We had some anyway!

We only had one full day in KL before heading off to Singapore and Langkawi, but plan to stay another day towards the end of our holiday here. There is a lot to see, especially shopping centers! Of course we wanted to go up in the Petronas Twin Towers, but as the tickets are free, we were too late and there were no more tickets that day, so we went looking through the shopping centers instead. We got rather tired after a few hours and decided to see the KL bird park, the world's largest outdoor free flying range bird park to be exact. It was a lovely park and not too busy. The peacocks were everywhere!

In the evenings we had a lot of thunder and rain, but didn't really mind as the hotel had several restaurants and a shopping center attached. Singapore Slings at Raffle's next!!
