One week left! E-mail

Only a week to go! I should probably worry more than I do, but I've been waiting for so long it just feels natural that I'm leaving ... Everything is arranged with my worldly possessions, my rom is sublet, everything is packed and all equipment and travel insurance has been bought, credit cards are ready and everything is basically on schedule.

Or even before schedule, which is the way I like it. Although I enjoy working under pressure as much as the next girl, I really feel more secure when I'm a bit ahead. So on the big day I'll probably sit around at home for 2 hours waiting to go to the airport (early, of course) and just sink in the feeling of finally being on my way. The past 6 months have been rediculously stressful with tons of hard work (I'm writing this with a huge blister in my palm after a 1,5 hour arguement with an undersized philips screwdriver and some unwilling IKEA furniture), so I'm really looking forward to some time-out. Hammock and umbrella drinks on the beach? Bring it on!

Still I wonder if it will be stressful on the road as well, always looking after my stuff, not sleeping in my own bed, not speaking the language, eating new food and maybe have no one to talk to ... I am already trying to imagine what it will be like coming back to loved ones and the office - the first thing I will have to do is visit all the babies that have been born while i'm away! These things seem to be very popular this year.

I'm also wondering if I brought too much or too little of something, maybe I've brought only completely useless things. Well, time will show. Right now I only hope I'll remember my passport and flight info.

I just finished reading a wonderful book about India, "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts, where the character in the book (the author himself more or less) has escaped from prison and often talks about what he appreciates the most - namely freedom. I have thought more about freedom lately and decided I do have a lot of it and that I do appreciate it very much. I know I'm lucky to have the opportunity to go on this trip and I feel truly free when I think about all the possibilities I have in my life.

Have you considered getting a prepaid card from Lebara or other
brand?

Or would you be relying on skype mostly?

Yeah I did consider that, but I think it's actually cheaper to just
buy a prepaid SIM in every country I go to ... and I guess I will rely
on Skype and e-mail mostly.
