Finally my travel site is online! I have postponed it for months because I've been so busy, but now I have spent a few evenings and here we are. I know it's over quickly when I first get started, but you know the excuses ... I have (unwisely) chosen the warmest week ever in Oslo to sit in front of the computer and tap away. Still I am not happy about the forecasted rain next week, becaue that is when I start my 2 week holiday in Norway before I go for a little quality time with my new house and the family. I leave for India, my first stop, in less than 7 weeks time and I'm actually starting to get a little nervous. I have the required visas, money saved up, almost everything I'm bringing, I've sublet my room and started moving my stuff, everything is pretty much under control, but I guess it is only normal to be a little worried. I have been wanting to go for a long trip alone for several years and started planning this trip (in some form or another) more than two and a half years ago after visiting Australia for the first time. Sadly, my visit was just a month or two after Steve Irwin's tragic death. I loved his TV shows and enthusiasm, and I really believe his work made a difference for wildlife all over the world. For the past year I have gathered information, played with website design tools and bought various equipment for travel. I have gotten to know other travelers and read tons of blogs, forum posts and travel articles in books and magazines. I'm glad I have had this much time to prepare, because there really is A LOT to consider when you're going away for 6 months. Work, finances, mail, loans just to get started. I should get to bed and see if I can get any sleep in this heat (27 degrees Celsius at almost 11 pm).
