| Paradise found in southern Cambodia! |

I was extremely lazy and getting ready to go home and decided to spend at least a week on the beach doing nothing. There are several beaches in Sihanoukville, unfortunately I ended up on the noisiest one in a nice hotel room next to the loudest bar but the room was so nice (and the cheapest I could find next to the beach), so I stayed a week. As you can see, the restaurant / guest house shacks are directly on the beach, salespeople walk by constantly and offer massage, pedicure, bracelets, sunglasses and so on. A little annoying, but just don't show any interest and you get rid of them quickly. Guide books and the like tell you not to buy from children as it keeps them away from school, but I saw many people do it anyway. So one day I was lazing on the beach I was approached by a guy selling trips to a "desert island", calling other islands tourist traps and generally showing heaps of enthusiasm, so I decided to believe him and off I went the next day to a wonderful island called Koh Ta Kiev just outside Sihanoukville. Three guys have built tree huts and offer an idyllic (though basic) getaway with a small restaurant. I stayed for 4 days and just relaxed on a beautiful quiet beach that I had almost to myself, ate good food and talked to interesting people. The pictures speak for themselves, I think! My tree house bed. My beach and hammock view.
My beach entertainment: little sand crabs.
Sunset seen from my tree house.
This guy was less welcome. There were also jungle rats around, one of which actually nibbled a little hole in my aloe vera and possibly ran off with the little bag for my sleeping bag liner. Oh well.
