| Fresh water dolphins in Kratie |

I was pretty excited to see the freshwater dolphins in Kratie. I shared a cheap hotel room with a Dutch girl I met on the lovely 12-hour bus ride from Siem Reap. On the way we stopped around 5 times to enjoy snacks and toilet breaks. This is the common Cambodian's idea of tasty snacks - fried crickets and tarantulas. Unfortunately I didn't feel brave enough to try. Somewhere you have to draw the line. No insects for me, thanks.
The next morning we went out in a tuk-tuk to the dolphin spot. We drove through lovely little villages and marveled at the lush green forests and fields as well as the lovely river views. This is what a house on the Cambodian countryside (and sometimes in the cities as well) looks like. We got in a little boat and ventured out on the river to see the shy dolphins. They were indeed very shy, so I felt like a paparazzi trying to get a decent photo. Then the inevitable happened: The camera ran out of battery. Again. So I just relaxed and enjoyed the view. Definitely worth it!
This was actually my best shot that actually looked anything like a dolphin. They don't jump like the bottle-nosed dolphins I saw in Australia and New Zealand, they just blow air and touch the surface like this.
The sunset in Kratie was amazing, the sun was a giant red, almost lightless saucer.
