Moon Cup
Female travelers usually need to bring a few extra items. Here are some things I found especially useful (in theory, at least).

Moon cup

This is a sort of "reusable tampon". It's made of silicone or rubber and last around 10 years.

Fantastic for travel, swimming, exercising and so on. Try it!!!

The Whiz

The Whiz

You will laugh (especially at the hilarious commercial), but this thing is actually brilliant once you've learnt how to use it.
Some places you just don't want to sit down (or can't). Great for trekking, boating, squat toilets and so on!

Permanent lash/brow color

The box is tiny and easy to bring. 15 minutes of coloring last for weeks and saves you time and effort. Try it at home first to avoid scary eyebrows!!

Eyeliner tattoo

Not for the faint-hearted! Makeup tattoos are getting increasingly popular now but are a little expensive. Still, if you use eyeliner every day, this stuff saves you a few minutes and you look great without makeup as well. Great for swimming and sweating! It's like a regular tattoo, but does not go as deep into your skin as the regular ones (but more painful, I might add, because it's your eyelids) and last up to 5 years. You get a local anaesthetic and may experience a little bruising the first few days (and parts of it "comes off" like on a regular tattoo), but you're worth it! *throws hair around*

Contraceptive implant

Best investment ever. My only regret is that I didn't try it sooner!

Waterproof mascara, loose powder and makeup remover pads

Makeup remover pads

If the advice above is taken, chances are you'll only wear extra makeup on special occations. A small box with 30 pads is hopefully enough for the whole trip (if not, I'll just buy some more). OK, you could use regular soap, but it's not good for "the sensitive skin around the eyes", they say. And it usually doesn't remove waterproof makeup (a must in the heat and on the beach).

Sand paper hair remover

Sandpaper hair removal

I bought some of this on German amazon.com, it's called Velvet Touch (on the international site it is something quite different!!). These sand papery sheets are great for "shaving" your legs when no water is available or you don't feel like using the water (heard a story once about a girl shaving her legs in the Amazonas river getting disgusting worms under her skin ... might be an urban legend, but I'm not taking any risks ...). It takes a little time to get used to (and at least 20 minutes for 2 legs) and to learn the technique, regrowth is a little too quick, but it's great when some idiot (or two, for that matter - what on earth are they doing in there...?) occupies the hostel shower forever and you just want to get to the beach quickly.
